Education Services Australia is managing the delivery of the online curriculum support, which will provide all schools with access to new digital teaching and learning resources and online professional development support. The procurement of student resources and teacher support material to support the implementation of the Australian Curriculum is part of the package announced by the Australian Government on 23 September 2011.

The Supporting the Australian Curriculum Online component provides support for teachers to develop flexible learning approaches and integrate digital resources into the classroom. It will also significantly enhance the pool of national, state and territory digital curriculum resources to support all teachers. It includes:

  • $10 million to support teachers by providing high-quality online professional learning resources that further their professional development
  • $5 million to support flexible delivery of language teaching and learning, including through a new Language Learning Space
  • $11.4 million for new digital learning resources such as film clips, animation, interactive tools and web resources,  with particular focus on resources for teaching English, mathematics, science, history, geography, languages and the arts
  • $5 million to improve the technical infrastructure for storage, distribution, discovery and accessibility of digital resources.

Education Services Australia will work with government and non-government schools’ authorities, the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority(ACARA), the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership(AITSL), teacher professional bodies, cultural institutions, government agencies, scientific organisations and international resource repository owners.

The Australian Curriculum Connect component provides:

$9.8 million to support Education Services Australia to work with government and non-government schools’ authorities to link the Australian Curriculum to existing digital resources with improved online search and delivery capabilities so teachers can easily find quality online teaching materials through their local e-learning environment or through the national portal, Scootle.
