Energising Science
The Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) has contracted Education Services Australia Limited to work with six Victorian Science and Mathematics Specialist Centres, the Australian Synchrotron and DEECD to develop sustainable digitised science outreach programs.
The Energising Science project is utilising the expertise of the organisations to develop contemporary curriculum resources and experiences that engage learners in cutting-edge science in the following areas:
- space sciences
- gene technology
- environmental sciences
- biosciences and health sciences
- renewable energies
- physical sciences.
The online resources and experiences developed through the project will focus on middle years students in years 5–9 and will be mapped to both the Victorian Essential Learning Standards and the Australian Curriculum.
The project is also developing online support for the outreach programs that will be hosted and delivered through the Science and Mathematics Specialist Centres, the Ultranet and FUSE.
