Energising Science

The Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) contracted Education Services Australia (ESA) to work with six Victorian Science and Mathematics Specialist Centres, the Australian Synchrotron and DEECD to develop sustainable digitised science outreach programs.

The Energising Science project utilised the expertise of the organisations to develop contemporary curriculum resources and experiences that engage learners in cutting-edge science in the following areas:

  • space sciences
  • gene technology
  • environmental sciences
  • biosciences and health sciences
  • renewable energies
  • physical sciences.

The online resources and experiences developed through the project focused on middle years students in years 5–9 and were mapped to both the Victorian Essential Learning Standards and the Australian Curriculum.

The project also developed online support for the outreach programs that are hosted and delivered through the Science and Mathematics Specialist Centres, the Ultranet and FUSE.
