We are pleased to announce the appointment of Vicki Baylis as our new Board Chair from 1 March 2024. Vicki has extensive experience and dedication to education, beginning her career as a classroom teacher, then serving the Queensland and Northern Territory Departments of Education, chair of the Australian Education Senior Officials Committee (AESOC) and of the Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Education Advisory Group to AESOC. Most recently, Vicki has provided invaluable contributions as a member of ESA’s Board, and we proudly welcome Vicki in this new role of Chair.
"It is with gratitude and excitement that I have accepted the position of Board Chair at Education Services Australia. Serving on the Board for the past year has been a rewarding experience, and I’m eager to continue supporting ESA to make a positive difference in education in this new capacity" shared Vicki Baylis, ESA Board Chair.
We are also welcoming three new independent experts as ESA Board Directors – Tony Brennan, Jenny Johanson and Felicity Thomlinson. Jenny Johanson has also been appointed as the Chair of the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing Chair, Diane Joseph, for her tremendous leadership and dedication to the ESA Board during her seven-year tenure, and to bid farewell retiring Board members, Mark Lamont and Sam Spadavecchia, for their support and guidance, and the great work we’ve achieved together.
"I am confident that our incoming Board Chair, Vicki Baylis, together with Board Directors, will provide the leadership and expertise to ensure the work and reputation of ESA remains well regarded locally, nationally and internationally" said Andrew Smith, ESA CEO.
