Supporting girls’ mental health – what can schools do to help?

The Student Wellbeing Hub recently invited a team of panellists including community psychologist Dr Lyn O'Grady to share their insights on issues facing girls' mental health, drawing upon their experiences, research and practice.

Over the past couple of years, educators have found that girls are seeking wellbeing support more often than their male peers.

In a recent webinar presented by the Student Wellbeing Hub, our panellists explained the current state of girls’ mental health, the gender-based expectations often placed on girls, and described what can be done to tackle these issues.

Our panellists shared strategies that schools can implement to promote positive mental health, from setting up processes to support wellbeing and hosting programs and engagement activities, to helping girls feel seen and valued.
