Every two years, the Education Council (comprising the ministers with responsibility for education) provides Education Services Australia with a Letter of Expectation. The letter outlines ESA's role and responsibilities; sets out the Council's priorities and expectations for the following two financial years; and ESA's reporting responsibilities.
ESA's reporting responsibilities include the preparation of an annual report on ESA's activities during the preceding financial year and to publish a high-level update on its activities on the ESA website - the ESA Impact Report. The first Impact Report was published for the 2019-20 financial year.
Prior to the introduction of the Impact Report in 2019-20, the full annual report was published on this website each year. Annual reports continue to be prepared, but are not published to this website. Instead the reports continue to be presented to ministers at the Annual General Meeting and subsequently lodged with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).
