‘Employability capital’ refers to the various and wide-ranging skills, attributes and resources a person draws on when looking for and maintaining work. Employability is now recognised as a 'lifelong and life-wide learning process', vital in navigating the various career transitions and decisions a person makes in their lifetime.

The Employability Capital Growth Model is a new tool consisting of nine forms of employability capital as well as the 'external factors and personal resources that support or constrain them'. From social, cultural and psychological capital to personal and career identity, each form of employability capital impacts how a person views themselves and, therefore, their employability.

Published by myfuture and written by Associate Professor William E Donald, this Insights paper introduces the Employability Capital Growth Model to help students, and the educators who support them, understand and enhance their employability.
