2013-2014 Strategic Plan Summary

VISION

To be the national e-service provider of choice for the education and training sectors.

PURPOSE

To provide cost effective and competitive e-services to advance the national reform agenda for all education and training Ministers.

PRINCIPLES

  • Innovation - delivering high quality and innovative products and services and creatively working through innovative engagement models.
  • Engagement - engaging closely with all jurisdictions and systems to ensure products and services directly meet owners’ needs.
  • Leveraging existing capital - leveraging existing investment in resources, tool and infrastructure owned nationally or by jurisdictions and leveraging knowledge, expertise and capacity in jurisdictions where practical and mutually beneficial.
  • Efficiency - delivering cost effective products and services competitively.
  • Sustainability - building capability to be financially viable into the future.

VALUE PROPOSITION

Education Services Australia is a national organisation that operates collaboratively in the interests of all jurisdictions. It understands the business of education and training and is able to take on demands and meet deadlines to achieve ministerial requirements. It has extensive national and international networks, understands the application of digital technologies to education and training, the importance of reusing online systems and digital resources and the need to manage intellectual property so there are no ongoing copyright remuneration costs for jurisdictions and education institutions.

STRATEGIC GOALS

Education Services Australia will focus on the following key strategic goals in 2013-2014:

  1. Support communication and collaboration between key stakeholders and with networks to create efficiencies, share good practice and achieve national goals.
  2. Provide high quality, cost effective technology services and products to the schools sector, and where appropriate, to the VET and Higher Education sectors.
  3. Maintain a capable, agile and financially sustainable organisation.

GOAL 1

Support communication and collaboration between key stakeholders and with networks to create efficiencies, share good practice and achieve national goals.

Strategies

To achieve this goal Education ervices Australia will:

  • Collaborate nationally across all sectors to create inclusive relationships with and between stakeholders in relation to key national projects
  • Commit to finding creative and practical technology solutions to achieve national goals
  • Develop working relationships with external agencies
  • Conduct thorough consultation to achieve national consensus on key issues.

GOAL 2

Provide high quality, cost effective technology services and products to the schools sector, and where appropriate, the VET and higher education sectors.

Strategies

To achieve this goal Education Services Australia will:

  • Provide key national technology services consistent with the requirements of ACARA, AITSL, ASQA, states and territories and other key stakeholders
  • Leverage existing investment in resources, tools and technology infrastructure that are either owned nationally or by jurisdictions, where possible
  • Develop effective and innovative ICT systems for education and training.

GOAL 3

Build a capable, agile and financially sustainable organisation.

Strategies

To achieve this goal Education Services Australia will:

  • Build a customer-focussed, achievement culture attuned to policy requirements based on networking, team work and collaboration
  • Maintain effective internal communication and internal systems to support project reporting, resourcing, methodologies and cost controls
  • Maintain an appropriately skilled staff profile to deliver on stakeholders’ expectations
  • Maintain effective financial controls

The Strategic Plan is informed by consultation with key stakeholders in the schools, VET and Higher Education sectors, and by the Company Objects and Letter of Expectation agreed by SCSEEC . It reflects current national policies and strategic directions.
